GREEN, GREENER, BAMBOO
To combine sustainability with the construction of the future; that’s what it’s all about with Orange Bamboo Construction. We give the concept of sustainability a completely new dimension. With full conviction and after much research we have embraced the inexhaustible bamboo. Bamboo is robust and sustainable. Perfect for counstruction and street furniture. Throughout the chain, sustainability is central to us; from sustainable extraction to green electricity and from Dutch design to CO2 reductionn. Another thing we look at: the life span and life cycle of our products. All with this goal in mind: replacing hardwood and metal furniture by bamboo. Below you can find facts about bamboo and we will explain why your next project also deserves bamboo.
1. RAPID GROWTH
We use the very fast growing giant bamboo ‘Moso’. This uses a lot of CO2 during the growth. Bamboo grows up to one meter per day, grows to a height of 20 meters and is ready for use in 4 years. And the great thing about this: bamboo does not exhaust the soil and can therefore be cut again and again.
In this video by our partner Moso, the advantages of bamboo will be explained:
2. AVAILABILITY & HONEST
Bamboo is an inexhaustible natural source. Tropical hardwood is becoming scarcer at a rapid pace, where gigantic deforestation is proof of. The availability of bamboo is more than sufficient with 7 million hectares of sustainably managed plantations. And because bamboo can grow so fast, the farmers have a good and fair income. Our bamboo is produced under ISO 14001: focus on people and the environment.
Orange Bamboo Construction always has bamboo on stock, so we start to work for you right away.
3. QUALITY & SUSTAINABILITY
Bamboo has equal or even better properties than tropical hardwood. With production under ISO 9001 the quality is guaranteed. ISO 14001 guarantees good environmental conditions.
The bamboo we use scores the highes sustainability class in accordance to CEN/TS 15083-1. And what about CO2 reduction: per M3 of our bamboo a reduction of about 250 kg of CO2 is realized. Oh yes, of course we only use panda friendly bamboo. In fact, the panda does not even like our bamboo.
The bamboo is split and cut into long strips. The strips are then placed against each other, glued and then pressed together. One bar contains only three percent formaldehyde-free adhesive, which meets the highest standards.
In this video, Pablo van de Lugt – Head of Sustainability at our partner Moso, will explain how the sustainable bamboo beams come about.
